Putting Painful Photos in the Past - Day 11

Hi

Yesterday we focused on shooting in the afternoon light, and today we look at tricks to add depth to your photos. Give this technique a try and see how much it adds to your photos!

Include a foreground object. When presented with a beautiful landscape, most people simply take a picture and leave, and are later disappointed. The scene may have felt majestic at the time, but this feeling too often is lost when conveyed via the camera. One trick that professional nature and landscape photographers use is to include an object in in the near foreground. The combination of a close foreground subject and a distance background will create an eye-catching sense of depth that causes viewers to "ooohh" and "ahhhh".
