HOLIDAY PHOTO TIP
BEWARE OF STRAY COLORS!
Everyone loves color, especially during the holiday season! But sometimes a bright color is simply in the wrong place. In fact, this topic comes up a lot. So often, photographers concentrate so much on their main subject that a stray splash of contrasting color slips by unnoticed. But that contrasting color can draw the viewer's eye away from your subject to the edge of the picture or to the background. So when composing your image, if a bright red or yellow object grabs attention - and it's NOT your primary subject - then the best advice is to recompose and leave it out of the picture.

Articles and Updates From BetterPhoto:

Not sure which setting to use for triggering your flash? BetterPhoto's lighting master, John Siskin, shares his thoughts in his new Instructor Insights article... Bright subjects like snow, sand, and white flowers - anything where white is the predominant color - present an exposure challenge. And, in an excellent BetterPhoto Instructor Insights article, Lynne Eodice tackles this subject... Advice from the judges: 'Travel and Place' does NOT refer to planes, trains, automobiles, etc. This category relates to locations, such as landscapes, outdoor scenics, nature images, sunsets, urban landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, and so on. It can also include people, details, and other subjects you might encounter while traveling. The main thing for this category is that the photos express a sense of place. Note: If you enter a photo into this category, it's a good idea to include the place name in the photo's title or description.
