Welcome to the 641st issue of SnapShot!
Hello,

Great news about BetterPhoto's free monthly photography contest! Judges now consider the Favorites count on contest entries. So if a photo gets Favorited 100 times, or even 10 times, the pro judges will see that figure and take it into account. However, we want to emphasize that the judges will still make the final call. For example, an image with a high number of Favorites is not guaranteed contest success. Likewise, a stellar image with a lack of Favorites could rise to the winners circle!

Not sure how to Favorite your favorite photos at BetterPhoto? It's easy! Go to Jim Miotke's short-and-snappy video. Then have fun finding inspiration, favoriting images, and taking part in the Web's best photo contest!

That's it for this week. Have fun with your photography!

Stop by BetterPhoto's home page and discover what's trending - each and every day! A challenge that many nature photographers face is that they get excited about their subject, which is a good thing. However, says instructor Rob Sheppard in his BetterPhoto article, they miss distractions around the image that truly take away from the composition. The most complementary type of background when shooting nature subjects outdoors is out-of-focus foliage, advises instructor Jim Zuckerman in his BetterPhoto article. However, he adds, "it should be so out of focus that it is essentially a blur of color."
