New Photo Discussions
New Photo Discussion 1: jz example - Kitty R. Rodehorst-Hanna See Kitty's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 1:Thank you, Kitty. I put this in my top 40 of all-time favorites. I photographed it on a recent photo tour I led to Ireland. Jim Note from the Editor: Here are more details on this amazing image - from Jim Z's photo blog: "This stunning row of trees forms an eerie tunnel-like structure over a country road north of Belfast. It's locally called Dark Hedges, and I used a 200mm telephoto lens to compress the myriad branches lit by a setting sun. I used f/32 because it was important to show the entire image, from front to back, tack sharp. | |
New Photo Discussion 2: Let Us Prey
- Michelle Alton See Michelle's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 1:Now THAT is awesome!!!!!!!!! - Gina Cormier See Gina's Basic BetterPholio™ Response 2:Thanks Michelle and Gina for your nice comments. I submitted this last year and it didn't fare well but I thought I'd give it another try. This photo is an example of "conceptual photography", in which an idea or concept is first envisioned in the mind's eye. Technically, this was a relatively easy photo to create. It was a simple matter of stopping down the aperture on my macro lens and metering for the brighter background, then using a hand-held strobe to illuminate the subject. Logistically though, the greatest challenge was finding a suitable location and "model" (...and then trying to coerse an energetic and confused mantis into sitting still long enough to get the shot). Lewinson See Deborah's Basic BetterPholio™ Visit newjerseyphotos.net - Deborah's Deluxe BetterPholio™ Response 2:Awesome, Debby!~ This turned out excellent. I don't know what f/stop you used on this one, but whatever it was you did a great job. I like the vertical format too. - Donna R.
