Re: for you

Hi

Wow!

The day has arrived.

The new and improved BetterPhoto is here!

You gotta see the way your gorgeous photos, and those by your favorite BP photographers, look in the new galleries. If I may say so myself, your photos are even more beautiful than ever... it's really quite stunning!

You can start by checking out these images in my "photo show" (my customizable collection of favorite photography subjects): http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/photo-show.asp?memberID=124&sortBye=Love

(copy and paste the link above if clicking on it doesn't work... it will show you many inspiring photos in the galleries I find most fascinating).

My team and I have another very busy day ahead of us, squishin' bugs (one of my favorite things to do) and answering your very helpful emails...

...but I wanted to give you some guidance so you can get the most out of the enhanced site right now.

The new home page features a photo by Richard Palmer that will knock your socks off. I'll be changing the home page photo every once in a while. I already have about 20 gorgeous photographs lined up... yours might be one of them! I'll be selecting more "Photos of the Home Page" as we go.

Here are a few key bold strokes:

* Your admin area (aka "Member Center") is now in your Profile. See the icon that looks like three little pancakes stacked in the upper left? Click that and a neatly organized list of admin pages should slide out from the left.

* You will see links to your own Gallery or Website on many pages, such as top center of the photo gallery pages. The link will say "Your BetterPholio". You can customize it in the Profile > My Gallery/Website section.

* You can grow your audience by loving photos. Look for the big heart in the upper right of big photo pages such as this beauty:
Bob's great photo

* ...or you can encourage others by loving comments people make under each big photo. How does it make you feel when a friend tells you he likes your work? (I love it!)

* You can upgrade to a higher level of membership which gives you all sorts of new perks...

One of these perks is the "Monthly Mission" - where you get motivating assignments and the top ten photos get feedback from our favorite staffer and resident pro, Kerry Drager. (If you took part in my spring promotion, you should already see a "Log in" link in your Profile (under the "pancakes") ;-)

Learn more about the new Simplified levels of membership here.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be finally bringing this new site to you. It's been a lot of work and there still is a lot of work to do but (like with your photography) I love it and I would pay to do it.

Better navigation,
More ways to get motivated to get out shooting,
More ways to WIN,
And more ways to feel more inspired.

I'll guide you a lot more in the days to come. I'll be happy to help you find where your stuff now is. And I want to help you do what you want with your photos.

I have some great new content that I am sure will help you... coming soon.

I just wanted to get you a few keys points right away.

Oh here's another one... a BONUS Tip for making the most out of the site (thanks Neal for emailing me this question just now...):

You can find your favorite photographers, as well as the photos you love, AS WELL AS your own photos that others are loving... in your Profile. Under the "My Photo Shows" and "My Photos" subheadings. You can also search for photographers like me or photos using the search function (little magnifying glass in the upper right corner). Search for me and Follow me and I'll follow you back :-)

Here's one way you can try out the new site:
Comment about the launch here, under this old favorite of mine

(Do you see the photographer in the photo I made in New Zealand?)

Okay, bare with me as we sweep the floors and tidy up. I'll get to more bug-squishin' right now and we'll have it all running smoothly in no time at all.

Enjoy browsing, being inspired, and making wonderful photography!

Thanks,

Jim Miotke

P.S. If you are one of the 913 people who answered my survey, THANK YOU! You're comments are awesome and always welcome! If you didn't do the survey, take this opportunity now to let me know your thoughts and feelings. Or...

I invite you to email me. I will read it and, even if I don't have time to personally email each and every one of you back, know that I'm reading what you say and I appreciate your input. I especially enjoy the praise (hey, I'm human... :-) but I also love, love, love the constructive "here's how you can improve" critiques. Just as you do with your photos. It's an invaluable way to learn and grow. Thank you for helping me grow even better at creating new value for you and photography enthusiasts like you.

That last point reminds me, do you know of any photography enthusiasts who could use a little inspiration and encouragement? Tell them about the new BetterPhoto. Send them a link, Like or Share using the new Facebook buttons, or actually tell them in person. :) Thanks again - I am glad to be able to help you and your friends grow as photographers and enjoy life even more.

Yikes! Removing your email will make it so you no longer get announcements and updates about BetterPhoto. Carefully consider before making any quick decisions. I want you to be happy so if you need to, you can click here to opt out of future communications from BetterPhoto.com.
